It feels like I’ve been silent for too long, but there has been such movement in my life over the past year that I never got around to finishing that second novel…
My family and I were offered the wonderful opportunity to move all the way across Canada. We left our country home in the Eastern Townships (Quebec) last year, to discover the beautiful province of Alberta.
On this magnificent journey, we have explored such amazing places! The Canadian Rockies are at the top of my list when it comes to natural wonders. Our first glimpse of these mountains was in January 2016 when we drove to Jasper National Park. We were stunned by the magnitude of these snow-capped beauties and the pristine, light blue rivers rushing down sinuous paths. There are herds of elk just about everywhere in the small town of Jasper and they are often the reason for traffic delays.
We have also crossed the Rockies from the cozy and charming towns of Canmore and Banff, towards Kelowna, British Columbia. Now, this was during early spring and although the sights were stunning, I couldn’t wait to arrive at our destination for there were quite a few avalanche warnings. If one must travel between British Columbia and Alberta during the winter months, I would definitely recommend catching a plane!
Another area worth visiting is Drumheller with its intriguing mushroom-shaped hoodoos. When you drive down into the sandy valley, it feels like you’re entering a different world. This is dinosaur land and any paleontologist’s dream come true. It’s filled with fossil remains and honestly, I never knew that Alberta was so rich in remarkable findings.
So, here I am a year later, with many wonderful things to discover and many stories to tell!
